• Electronic On-Demand AWD: Replaces driveshafts with electric-motor generators for the rear tires. When the system senses additional traction is needed, it switches on the rear tire motors and distributes power as needed to each tire. This system can be found on the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid and Highlander Hybrid.
• AWDe: Works similarly to Electronic On-Demand AWD to maximize fuel efficiency and minimize drag. This system can be found on the Prius, a smaller hybrid Toyota AWD car.
